IHFCA Establishes Category A Liaison with ISO/TC197 Hydrogen Technologies

In January 2023, the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (IHFCA) became a Category A liaison with the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) Hydrogen Technologies Technical Committee (ISO/TC197), following approval by the committee.

ISO is a highly respected international organization in the field of standardization, and ISO/TC197 is its technical committee focused on hydrogen technologies. Currently, ISO/TC197 has 30 participating members and 14 observing members.

By the end of 2022, five organizations had already established Category A liaisons with ISO/TC197: the European Commission and European Industrial Gases Association in Brussels, the International Organization of Legal Metrology in Paris, the European Cylinder Makers Association in Germany, and the International Association for Hydrogen Safety (supported by the EU).

Joining these organizations, the IHFCA located in Beijing, and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations based in Paris were approved by the ISO/TC197 and became Category A liaisons in January 2023.

This move is significant for the IHFCA, as it strengthens its international communication and cooperation in the field of hydrogen technologies. By building a platform for members to participate in international hydrogen standardization construction, and promoting ISO/TC197 exchanges and cooperation among its members, the IHFCA aims to provide more services to its members and contribute to the development of international hydrogen technical standards.
